These rating may increase your chances of summiting to Uhuru Peak on Mount Kilimanjaro. Therefore choose route wisely. In fact rating of each route is based on our team experience and observation.
This is the popular route on Kilimanjaro; almost 50% of the trekkers use it.
It provides excellent landscape and scenic view
It can be completed within 6 or 7 days
Both days 6 & 7 good time for acclimatization

- 6 days average summit success is 80%
This is the beautiful and remote treks that approach the mountain from the south west and joins Machame and Umbwe.
- There is good chance of acclimatization because you climb high and sleep low
- It can be completed in 6, 7 or 8 days
- 7 days average summit success is 85%

This is the new route; it makes you to go round of the northern slopes of the mountain
- Observing valleys and general landscape of the mountain
- It is the safety and successful route on Kilimanjaro
- 9 days average summit success is 98%
- 8 days average summit success is 95%
This is the oldest route up to Kilimanjaro and it is the popular route.
- It is the shortest route
- It provides hut accommodation all days instead of camping
- It can be completed in 5 or 6 days
- 6 days average summit success is 75%
- 5 days average summit success is 65%
This route starts from the northern side of the mountain
- You may view the all peaks of mount Kilimanjaro, Kibo the target one and Mawenzi
- It offers a wonderful gentle walk from camp to camp
- Excellent option during rain seasons on the mountain, March, April and May******
- It can be completed within 6 or 7 days
- 7days average summit success is 90%

It is the most challenging route on Mount Kilimanjaro
- It has fast accent therefore does not provide necessary stages of acclimatization hence difficult
- Fits only strong hikers who are confident with the slopes and quick ability to acclimatize to high altitudes
- It can be completed in only 6 days.

If you are travelling from North America or Europe we recommend you to fly with the KLM to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO/KIA) and it is the most direct way to Northern Tanzania. Other Airways are Ethiopian airways, Swiss airways, and Qatar airways. From KIA, Afronature Tours and Safaris team will pick you direct to your booked hotel in Moshi town 40.6kms which is almost 40 minutes drive.
If you travelling from Asia or Australia we recommend you to fly with Emirates Airways or Qatar Airways direct to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO/KIA) in northern Tanzania. Or you may land at Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA/DAR) in Dar es salaam Tanzania; Dar es salaam to Moshi is 9 to 10 hours drive and 1:15 hours flight or you may land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA/NBO) in Nairobi Kenya; Nairobi to Moshi is 6:30 hours drive and 1:20 hours flight.

It happens sometimes you land and unfortunately you forget your you parcel, bag, or Day Park, or being misplaced; Afronature tours and safaris will work out on this immediately and collect your parcel from the airport for you and submit to you while in hotel or at the first camp on the mountain. Or the company will provide for you any other necessary gears for you to accomplish your trip or hiking in case the lagged is lost.
- The booked hotel is responsible to take care of you extra luggage or staffs that you don’t need to take with you to trekking or safari. In case you have done with the hotel, then the company will protect and keep safely those extra staffs while in safari or on hiking.
Our guides have health experience on the mountain and carry all the necessary equipment like; pulse ox meter, first aid kit with some necessary tablets. However the company recommends each client to carry his or her first aid kit as recommended by his or her doctor.
There is rescue team at each camp site with full reception and two way radios. In case of devastating situation or critical health problem:
- Stretcher is common for carrying the victims down the safe place and where the ambulance or Vehicle is accessible for further treatment to the hospital.
- Helicopter is found at 4700m only below sea level it is suitable for the client with health insurance it is the fast and quick means of rescue, therefore the company recommend our clients to have Health Insurance.
- Vehicles and ambulance are accessible at 90m; all routes mention in our trekking package there is a vehicle at each gate for evacuation.
- Medical help, in Moshi town there pharmacy that provide health service 24/7 with all necessary medication that is needed.
