Kilimanjaro Climbing Cost
Climb Kilimanjaro is the best experience ever especially for the people who like adventure tourism and is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Fail to prepare is preparing to fail so to achieve all the way to the top, preparation including knowing the climbing cost or fees is a great successful attempt. The prices from different tour operators in the field is charged below standard, standard or luxury as complete package according to what they offer from their service and sometimes they do not explain in deep about the charges which makes a lot of contradiction to the Client.
Therefore, our company Afronature Tours and Safaris, charges range from 1500$ to 2220$-Standard, (depends on the route you choose to go). The amount you pay normally includes the payment of park fees, trekking crew’s wages, transport and supplies logistics, full accommodation, taxes and emergence care costs (safety).
NATIONAL PARK FEES
This is an avoidable fee that every person who climbs Kilimanjaro should pay. These fees combine the conservation fee, hut or camping fee, crews fee, rescue and VAT. Rongai and Lemosho or Londorosi routes special forest fees is paid and all this payment is done in US Dollar.
FULL ACCOMODATIONS
The climbing package includes full accommodation which is one night before the trip and one night after the trip, meals while you’re on the mountain and camping facilities such as tents, chairs, tables etc
TREKKING CREWS WAGES
This is another factor that makes the costs of climbing to be high. Porters are paid 10US Dollar per day, Cooks is 15US Dollar par day and Guides are paid 20US Dollar per day. These payments are recommended by Tanzania government and workers associations. Contrary to this the tour operators relaying on higher unemployment rates which makes the crews depend on tips which is not guaranteed as much as the crews expect.
TRANSPORT AND SUPLIES
The costs of climbing Kilimanjaro are getting high due to the needs of transport since the client land. The transport from airport to the booked hotel, from the hotel to the destination concern, for supplies and resupplies while the client is on the mountain and all these are included on what you pay.
TAXES
Climbing fees is also used in paying government taxes. The licensed tour operators are responsible to pay these taxes very effectively according to the laws.
EMERGENCE CARE COSTS
This cost is very important ant and it is included to the total amount you pay per package. The needs of oxygen tank supply, ox miter and other emergence care facilities for the safety on your trip makes the charges to be high.
WHY OTHERS CHARGES CHEAP (BELOW 1500$)
WEAK EQUIPMENT
Some of the tour operators accept payment below 1500$ because they neglect the good and quality equipment which is danger to your trip. For example if the vehicle is broken and no quick replacement or alternative, and if you’re not given a standard camping facilities especially sleeping tents your trip will be worse ever.
DISHONESTY BUSINESS (DOUBLE-DEALING)
Most of the Clients who pay cheap are subjected to dishonest business and it’s very dangerous to their trip because they face some challenges such as unexpected payments, immediate additional payments, nasty surprises and cheating. All these are connected to cheap climbing costs.
UNQUALIFIED CREWS
Tour operators who charge cheap also employ cheap labors and unqualified crews especially Guides and Cooks. These unqualified team are unable to perform their task effectively for example the cook who is unable to cook then what do you expect?, a Guide who is unable to explains the nature,(flora and fauna), landscapes, culture, first aid responder and all about the trip needs obvious you trip will be spoiled and you cannot feel yourself why you travel.
UNFAIR TREATMENT OF WORKERS OR CREWS
As cheap you pay, you are subjected to unfair treatment of the crews that you’re going to become familiar with. They will not have full meals, good wages, and delay on their payments and poor camping facilities which is danger for their safety while they are on the mountain.
