7 Days The Great Serengeti Migration Safari

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a professional representative from Afronature Tours & Safaris (AFTOSA Group). After a short safari briefing, you will be transferred to Moshi, a charming town at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. After check-in at your lodge, you can relax and recover from your journey while enjoying views of Africa’s highest peak and preparing for the exciting days ahead.

After breakfast, you will depart for Tarangire National Park, known for its vast elephant herds and iconic baobab trees. Upon arrival, you will enjoy a full-day game drive through the park’s diverse landscapes, following the Tarangire River which attracts a wide range of wildlife. Expect to see elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and a rich variety of bird species. In the late afternoon, you will transfer to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, you will journey toward the Ndutu region in the southern Serengeti ecosystem, passing through the Ngorongoro Highlands with breathtaking scenery along the way. Upon arrival, you will begin a game drive in this migration hotspot, where vast herds of wildebeests and zebras gather, especially during the calving season. The open plains provide excellent opportunities to spot predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge or camp in Ndutu.

Spend a full day exploring the Ndutu region, one of the best places to witness the Great Migration. Depending on the season, you may observe thousands of wildebeests grazing across the plains or witness dramatic predator-prey interactions. The area is also rich in resident wildlife, offering constant game viewing throughout the day. With morning and afternoon game drives, you will fully immerse yourself in this extraordinary natural spectacle before returning to camp for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, you will depart Ndutu and journey through the Serengeti toward the northern region near the Mara River. Along the way, you will enjoy a game drive across the endless plains, spotting wildlife such as elephants, lions, leopards, and large herds of grazers. Upon reaching the northern Serengeti, you will settle into your lodge or camp near the Mara River, where the dramatic river crossings of the Great Migration often take place (seasonal).

Spend the day exploring the northern Serengeti, focusing on the Mara River area where one of nature’s most dramatic events unfolds—the Great Migration river crossings. You may witness herds of wildebeests and zebras attempting to cross the crocodile-filled waters, a truly unforgettable experience. In addition to the migration, the area hosts a variety of predators and resident wildlife. After a full day of adventure, return to your camp for dinner and overnight.

After an early breakfast, you will begin your journey toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a final game drive. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to an incredible concentration of wildlife, including the “Big Five.” After exploring the crater floor and enjoying a picnic lunch, you will ascend and begin your return journey to Arusha or transfer to the airport for your departure, marking the end of your extraordinary Tanzania safari.
